How the potato works
One hot potato per round. Pay to take it and it's yours, and its fuse starts over. Whoever is holding it when it pops takes 75% of the pot. The other 25% seeds the next potato.
Taking the potato
- The first take of a round costs 0.05 SOL. Every take after that costs 2% more than the one before: take 50 is about 0.132 SOL, take 100 about 0.355 SOL.
- When the pot gets big, a take costs at least 2% of the pot.
- You set the most you're willing to pay. If the price moved before your take landed, it's rejected and you only pay the network fee.
- Of every take: 92% goes into the pot, 4% buys $POTATOHOT and burns it, 3% buys $POTATOHOT for stakers, 1% goes to the team.
- A pot holds at most 50 SOL; anything above rolls into the next round.
The fuse
The clock restarts at every take. The potato can pop at any second, and the chance climbs in four steps:
| Since the last take | Chance each second | Still in one piece |
|---|
| 0 – 40 s | 0.025% | 99% at 40 s |
| 40 – 80 s | 0.25% | 90% at 80 s |
| 80 – 105 s | 1% | 70% at 105 s |
| 105 – 120 s | 4% | 38% reach 120 s |
| 120 s | certain | 0% |
There is no last second to snipe: every second carries its own chance, so waiting for the end gives you nothing.
Fair and final
- Before launch, the contract stored the fingerprint of a secret chain of random values. Each check of the fuse reveals the next link; the contract rejects any value that doesn't match.
- Each link is mixed with the hash of the Solana block of that very second, which nobody can know in advance.
- Once a second has passed its result is fixed: a check can reveal it, never change it. Every check is a public transaction.
- If the potato had already popped when your take landed, your take is cancelled and refunded in full.
Winnings
Winnings and refunds land in your game balance and stay there until you withdraw them, with no deadline. A withdrawal can only go to your own wallet.
Grand Slam
- Every round has a 1 in 25 chance of being a Grand Slam, drawn by the same randomness as the fuse.
- A Grand Slam starts with the jackpot in its pot. The jackpot fills from half of the $POTATOHOT creator fees.
- Only wallets holding 300,000 $POTATOHOT or more (staked $POTATOHOT counts) can take the potato during a Grand Slam.
Safety net
Alone in a round and it pops on you? You get back everything you paid plus 0.011 SOL. The reserve pays up to 0.1 SOL per UTC day across all players; past that, solo rounds pay the normal 75% until the next day.
1v1 duels
- Stake 0.05, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 or 1 SOL. Leave the duel open or challenge a wallet.
- Each take costs 10% of the stake, and you can't take twice in a row.
- The potato can pop any second and pops for sure 60 seconds after the last take.
- The holder when it pops gets the whole pot minus 1%, straight to their wallet.
- You can cancel an open duel. If nobody takes within 2 minutes of the join, either player can void it and both stakes come back.
One-tap play
You approve once in your wallet: it moves the SOL you choose into your game balance and authorises a key kept by your browser for 7 days. That key can only take the potato, play duels and send your balance back to your own wallet. It keeps about 0.01 SOL for network fees. Clearing your browser data deletes the key, not your balance: connect your wallet and withdraw.
$POTATOHOT
- Launched on pump.fun, 1,000,000,000 supply, no presale.
- The buyback buys $POTATOHOT every 10 minutes with 7% of every take: 4/7 is burned, 3/7 goes to stakers.
- Creator fees: half fills the Grand Slam jackpot, half buys $POTATOHOT for stakers.
Staking
- Stake at least 10,000 $POTATOHOT. Rewards are added to the pool and compound; there is nothing to claim.
- New rewards unlock over 24 hours, so staking right before a payout captures nothing.
- Leaving early costs 20% under 24 hours and 5% under 72 hours, free after that. The fee stays in the pool for the stakers who stay.
What the team can and can't do
The team can pause new takes, change the settings of future rounds, set the Grand Slam odds and manage the safety reserve. None of that touches the pots, the jackpot or your balance, and withdrawals keep working while takes are paused.
